Power 90, Day 22

Day 21 & 22 completed!

Day 21 was my rest day, yesterday, and today I did sculpt phase I-II completing day 22. This also starts week 4 for me.

I pushed myself to do 15 reps in all of the exercises today. The only ones I didn't do 15 was the dips and the 7-7-7 I only did a total of 14. My goal in the beginning was to do phase I-II Week 1-6 and phase III-IV Week 7-12. That is still my goal. I figured I better be up to doing the max reps in all of the exercises before I move to the next phase.

Power 90, Day 16

Day 16, Cardio/Abs completed!

Working out in the mornings is really working for me. It is a great way to jump start the day! It also keeps me honest on my eating. Who wants to mess up all of that hard work you did sweating it out with Tony? Not me!

KPP!

Power 90, Day 15

Week 3 started as Day 15 completed, sculpt phase I-II!

I really like working out on the weekends. I can get up at 9am, still be up before anyone else, watch a little tv and then do my workout around 10am. Great way to start the weekend.

Just did my grocery shopping for the week. Lots of chicken, fish, tons and tons of vegetables and some fruit. I switched to soy milk a few weeks ago so the only dairy I currently eat is a 4oz cup of Activia light vanilla which I use in one of my smoothies I make with my protein powder.

I am going to be cutting out my coffee and soda starting tomorrow. I had already had my coffee today when I decided to do this. I drink diet soda and usually only have 1 a day. But my coffee, that is a totally different story. I bought a few different types of tea at the store today and am going to try these out and see what I like best. I got, English Breakfast tea, Green tea and Lemon Ginger tea. I am also going to be upping my water intake. Currently I drink about 8-9 glasses a day. I am now going to shoot for 12-15 glasses a day.

Keep pushing play!

Weigh in

I have lost 4lbs so far. I was really hoping for more. I have not cheated on my eating and haven't skipped 1 workout. I have also been drinking about 9 glasses of water everyday. I know any loss is better than anything and I am proud that I have stuck with this for 2 full weeks. I think I was really hoping for 3-4lbs a week. I have so much to lose that I thought in the beginning I might drop a little extra. No worries, I am committed!

Power 90, Day 14

Day 14 completed, rest day! Easiest day of the week.

That makes 2 weeks done.

Power 90, Day 13

Day 13 Cardio/Abs complete!

I really struggled this morning. I was so lethargic. It was like I had no energy. Normally I get up in the morning and take my Performance Tablets and wait 30-45 minutes before starting my workout, like it states to on the bottle. Well this morning I got up a little late so I just popped the tablets and started working out. I don't think I was even really awake till over half way through the DVD. I will not do that again! Definitely my worst workout to date.

Power 90 Day 12

Hi! Wow I am in here late today. I did do my workout this morning like normal. However, after that I was off and running for work. Had a meeting with my accountant and still had a lot to do. I can finally take a breath now and post my update.

Day 12 Complete, sculpt! Last night I was soooo tired I went to bed early. I was feeling sore all over. This morning my neck/shoulder area was and still is pretty sore. I think it is a combination of increasing my intensity and really working out the muscle groups this week and a lot going on with work which equals stress and tension in my body.

Power 90 Day 11

Day 11 Cardio/Abs complete.

I actually could tell a difference today doing the workout. Power Yoga was easier, still way hard, but I am doing better than before. I have increased my intensity with the jumping jacks/running so I can really feel the burn.

The other big thing is when I was doing all of the knee raises in the beginning my hip flexors (I believe that is what it is called) were really tired and sore straight from the get go. Today not so.

Oh and when I did the jab, punch with my right leg forward - when I did the punch and would move/twist my left knee before I felt a twinge of pain. I would have to do less of full body movement on that move. Today was a whole different story! I could move and it felt good!

I am so excited to see these kinds of changes in my body already.

Keep pushing play!

Power 90 Day 10

Day 10 complete for me. I am going to say that one more time, Day 10 complete!

Did Sculpt today. I am increasing my intensity this week. I pushed through and did 10 pushups on each circuit instead of the 8 I did last week. However, when I got to the 7-7-7 it was more like 4-2-0. It was all I could do just to do that, my arms were like spaghetti!

Power 90 Day 9

Day 9 done! Today was cardio/abs. I upped my intensity today. Still made it through the entire workout only taking scheduled breaks. Jumping jacks really get my heart racing!

I do take it a little bit easier whenever it calls for putting all of your weight on your left knee. My left knee is much weaker and I feel a twinge of pain their during the workout and after. Nothing really bad, but I feel if I am not careful and slowly strengthen that knee it could get worse. The only thing this really effects is the side kicks. I still do them just not as high on that side.

P90 Thoughts

I of course am in this to lose weight but right now my goals are all around the program, my progress (day 1 can do 8 pushups, day 90 can do 50 pushups or more) and completing the program. That is something I can control and success is guaranteed. With each success I keep pushing harder. I figure if I do the program and eat clean the weight will come of at a healthy pace.

In the past I wanted results now, that is not realistic. I know this is about a lifetime commitment of getting healthy and staying healthy. Now saying all of that I would like to see an 8-10lb loss each month. More than that I will be doing the happy dance less than that I will have to remind myself that I completed 30 days and that is a pretty big accomplishment too.

Keep Pushing Play!

Week 1 Power 90 - DONE

Week 2 here I come. Today I completed Day 8 of my Power 90 work out (sculpt), officially starting week 2.

I am taking this one day at a time and am feeling really good about all I have accomplished. Cardio/Ab days are really tough for me. But I keep pushing play. Don't get me wrong, the sculpt days and the pushups are hard but the cardio days are even tougher for me.

I have a strong feeling I will move up to phase III-IV on my sculpt before I do on my cardio.

Make it a great day!

Power 90 Day 5

Day 5 Completed, Phase I-II Sculpt.

Whew! When I get to the 3rd circuit with the 7-7-7 pushups my grunting and groaning is definitely louder! The close pushups are really really hard for me. Wow!

Going strong and feeling great!

Keep Pushing Play!

Power 90 Day 4: 3/24/09

Day 4 completed, Cardio and Abs 100.

One of the transition moves during the Power Yoga I almost fall flat on my face everytime. It is pretty funny. It doesn't stop me from trying everytime. I will be a master at it one day!

Make it a great day!

Power 90 Day 3: 3/23/09

My Birthday! Happy Birthday to Me, Happy Birthday to Me!

Day 3 completed. Did Sculpt this morning.

My eating and drinking my water and taking my supplements have been spot on so far. Today is my birthday so my eating will most likely have a little variation in there that I normally wouldn't include. I am not trying to be perfect but trying to be good to my body. I have gotten stuck in that it is all or nothing mentality in the past and when I go a little outside of what I think is "perfect" than I beat myself up pretty bad and sometimes completely fall off the wagon.

I am taking it one day at a time. Yesterday is gone forever, Tomorrow is in the future, Today is right NOW.

Ok, enough of my ramblings. Make it a great day.

Keep pushing play.

Power 90 Day 2: 3/22/09

Day 2 done. Today was the Cardio and Abs.

Cardio is definitely tougher for me than the strength training at this point. But I did do the complete workout. Tina, I only cussed at Tony once! Eating is going great. Taking my supplements like I should.

Feeling Great!

Power 90 Day 1: 3/21/09

Day 1: I did it! Phase I-II Circuit. Completed the entire workout.

After completing the workout I realized we often don't give ourselves enough credit. Going into this I was so nervous, not thinking I was strong, just "knowing" I wouldn't be able to complete a single pushup. What did I learn? The first thing you do after your stretch are regular pushups and I did 8. 8! Why do we sell ourselves short? Not anymore. I realized today I am strong! Now tomorrow doing the cardio might be a different story.

Keep Pushing Play!

Good Start

I have had a really good start this week. I did 7 miles yesterday on the bike and 8 miles today and got my water in for both days.

Made a Tilapia Fillet (4 ounces) today for lunch and really enjoyed it, only 98 calories, 0 carbs and 21 grams of protein.

I just put it in the oven at 350 for about 10-13 minutes, drizzeled extra light virgin olive oil, sprinkled garlic powder, black pepper, salt and red cayenne pepper. Very tasty and fast.

Keeping track

I am making a commitment to myself to track everything I put into my mouth. I will be weighing and measuring everything so there is no estimating. I will actually know how much I am consuming.

I am currently reading "Winning by Losing" by Jillian Michaels. I need to learn how to eat right for my body. How to plan healthy meals. I already know how to use my bike, treadmill, etc. It is the eating part that I need to get a handle on. I believe with journaling everything I eat, good or bad, I can start making some real changes within my life.

Keep moving forward!

Eating right...

I find it very helpful to use the nutrition tracking tools on SparkPeople.com. I seem to make bad choices if I don't plan ahead. I also make better eating choices if I do my workout in the morning. I feel like if I have got my workout in I don't want what I have eaten that day to mess up all the hard work that morning.

I am a smoker and have to stop this habit as well. When working out I can hardly breathe because of my smoking habit. Shoot even when I am not working out I can hardly breathe in the morning. I am fearful of trying to quit. In the past I have subsituted food for cigarettes.

In the past I quit smoking successfully for 2 years. When I quit I gained 25lbs. It didn't really bother me at the time, I was so focused on quiting that the side effect of weight gain didn't concern me. Of course even after putting on the 25lbs I didn't weigh as much as I do know. I know you are probably asking your self why after not smoking for 2 years did I start again. I wrongly thought just having 1 cigarette out with friends at a club wouldn't be enought to get me hooked again. I didn't realize it is like an acholoic, you can never have even 1 puff or you are hooked again. I wish I had realized this! No one to blame but myself.

30 Day Shred - Day 1

I am a beginner and just completed Day 1 Level 1 of Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. I didn't have any weights for certain parts of the video so did the motions without the weights. I think my feet hurt more than anything. Might be time to get a new pair of shoes.

Overall it was a tough workout but I was able to complete. I was a little nervous going into it thinking I might not be able to finish it. She is very encouraging during the workout. Telling you what you need to hear just when you need it!
